Katniss Everdeen (Hunger Games) Collector Barbie Dolls Review:
The Hunger Games was a popular book series turned into a smash hit movie that captivated boys and girls of all ages. A collectors doll was released by Barbie of Katniss Everdeen, the lead female character in Hunger Games. Katniss Everdeen is a great female role model. Barbie is a household name and well known for delivering consistent quality in all of their toys, so how does the Katniss dolls stack up to the Barbie expectation?

While most collector Barbie dolls turn out to look more like, well, other Barbies… the Katniss dolls do have a striking resemblance to the Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence, including many similarities in facial features. The Katniss Everdeen collector Barbie doll wears a hooded jacket, military cargo pants, and a top that perfectly match what the character wears in the Hunger Games movie. The accessories include the signature mockingjay pin as well as a bow and quiver of arrows.
Although Barbie dolls are rated appropriate for ages 6 to 15, that might not be the case with the Katniss Dolls because it is more of a collectors piece and does not have the same durability as other Barbie doll toys. These dolls, like most collector dolls, will keep its value if left in an unopened package. However, the doll can be given as a toy to play with for children who are mature enough to play gentle.
Update: Since doing this review in 2013, many more Katniss dolls have hit the market. Some in limited edition. But this Barbie version is still my favorite.
